BONES couldn’t have made Roy and Hawkeye more OOC in this movie if they tried. Shocking, I know.
Uh, what??
That is NOT how the context of the scene was meant to be interpreted.
When Winry enters his office, Roy comments that “this is no place for a civilian to visit”. This is because just the other day, a massive prison break occurred which resulted in countless injury, perhaps even some death, and immense damage to the surrounding area. A convict is on the loose, potentially a dangerous one. And now, Edward’s dearest childhood friend is caught smack dab in it. Mustang says this line not out of disdain or apathy, he says it because he’s concerned for Winry’s safety.
The same could be said of Riza. And neither of these people are very emotional. Granted, in the manga panels portrayed, they’re certainly more animated, but given the circumstances, they’ve got a lot on their mind at the moment.
Their behavior is actually pretty in character, given the circumstances and gravity of current events. If they behaved exactly as they did in that scene from the manga, THAT would have been horrifically OOC.
Actually my image was more tongue-in-cheek than anything, but I really do think they were wildly OOC during the whole movie. Then again I can also pinpoint moments in Brotherhood when they’re OOC. Moreover, the fact that you say they’re not “very emotional” tells me we see these characters differently.
In those panels in the manga Hughes had just died, they had just moved to Central, were secretly hiding a serial murderer informant and suddenly facing having to tell the Elrics and Winry about Hughes, I think that counts as having “a lot on their mind at the moment” too.
In any case, please don’t just throw “haters gonna hate” around. Some of us have valid reasons to dislike this Milos movie. I’m sure you have reasons to like it too. Also I don’t want to argue, god knows I’ve had enough of that in the FMA fandom.
Moving on.
